History
The e-laser team was born within the Interreg IIIA Italy-Slovenia 2000-2006 project "Cadastral map updating and regional technical map integration for the Geographical Information Systems of the regional agencies by testing advanced and innovative survey techniques" held at the University of Udine, in cooperation with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region (N-E Italy).
Within this project, part of the research activities were devoted to explore the potential of innovative Remote Sensing technologies such Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS), Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) and Hyperspectral sensors in the context of forestry assessment, territorial mapping and city modelling.
The scientific activity was particularly intense, as testified by the number and quality of more than sixty publications covering wide sectors of interest.
The Innovation Prize Udine Start Cup 2007 stimulated researchers in order to make ideas concrete and, finally, October 2007 saw e-laser win this regional award for best business start-up opportunity. This reward recognised e-laser for their business idea.
